Friendship Under the Star

Friendship Under the Star

A motorcycle weekend is never only about the road. The lavender fields gave this ride its colour, but friendship gave it its shape. Riding with the person you love is already beautiful. Sharing the same roads with friends — stopping together, laughing together, solving little problems together — gives the journey another kind of memory. This time we rode with Stani and Ila: the Gorges du Verdon, Castellane, and the Route des Crêtes, that spectacular 24-kilometre balcony above the canyon, full of cliffs, bends and viewpoints that force you to slow down. Then came Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. We stopped for an ice cream, walked through the old village, visited its sacred stones, and looked up toward the golden star suspended between the cliffs. The legend tells of the knight Blacas d’Aulps, taken prisoner during the Crusades and later released. On his return, he is said to have hung a star above Moustiers as an ex-voto, a sign of gratitude to the Virgin Mary. The star has changed over the centuries, but the mystery still floats above the roofs. Not everything was perfect. A hotel that did not feel right, a few practical hiccups, the kind of small complications every trip eventually brings. But with calm, attention and patience, everything found its place again. The next morning, we slowed down properly: pool, sun, no rush. Then came the hot ride home — not the easiest part, but the right ending to a small celebratory weekend with friends. Some memories are made by landscapes. Others are made by the people beside you. This one was made by both. #MotorbikeSlowTravel #MotorcycleTravel #SlowTravel #GorgesDuVerdon #RouteDesCretes #Castellane #MoustiersSainteMarie #Valensole #LavenderRide #FriendshipRide #RideToExplore #TravelByMotorcycle #SouthOfFrance #Provence #Verdon #Backroads #MotorcycleLife #RoadTrip
